Honda Piston Recall Apr 8, 2014

Certain 2013 Honda Odyssey and 2013 Honda Pilot two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive vehicles are being recalled due to premature wear of the pistons in the motor. During the manufacturing process of the engine piston, the heat treatment process may not have been applied properly. This may result in the piston not having the proper hardness level, making it more susceptible to premature wear.

If a worn piston suddenly fails, it could potentially increase the risk of an accident by causing the engine to stall. Honda will reach out to owners, and dealers will replace the engine short block at no cost. If you think your vehicle is at risk or have been notified about this recall by Honda, contact your local dealer to schedule a service appointment to replace the faulty part.
